Barmy decision to cancel what could have been a magical event for all! Was really looking forward to keeping it local and bringing the kids to something amazing in town rather than dragging them round the overcrowded market in Manchester or York. After visiting Manchester market last year to find it was just as repetative as the last time we visited 5 years earlier, was really looking forward to how unique this would be and what a fantastic and much needed boost it would give our town and local businesses.
It really is about time whoever is in charge took a step back and looked at what the residents of our beautiful town really want.

All the people that say this will be good for clitheroe we need a Christmas market we need acts and things going on in town. Where you been the last 4 years when we had the Christmas market which over 3 days santa dash, c.o.t festive nite street entertainers, donkey rides ,santa grotto. Why don't you get off your high horses and and help the people who give there time up each year. there still still is a Christmas do go to happen. The one on the castle had NOT sat down and talked to the people who all ready book acts and the date long before them.

Why has this event been cancelled please? A disrupt isn't exactly giving us the details or the truth. Many people of all ages were looking forward to this exciting new event that would have been nothing but a positive for our town and local businesses and economy. The council, police and all the other necessary desicion makers were willing to bring our town to a standstill and cause chaos for the recent cycling event that lasted a matter of minutes in the town itself but they're not willing to work together to put on this wonderful event? The food festival has proven to be a massive success and I'm sure this event would be the same if not better. Very disappointed

Short sighted to oppose this, anything that brings extra footfall into town is a positive, not just on the day but for repeat visitors.

Absolutely gutted about this. I was actually asked to sing at this event as a local artist (Langho) and was really excited about it. It's a real shame; I have performed at the Clitheroe Food Festival for several years and everyone in Clitheroe will comment on how many people turn up to that - it's been a massive success!!! At the end of the day, it's one winter weekend in the whole year which might bring people to the town. Instead of people doing their Christmas shopping in Manchester etc, they might come to Clitheroe for that weekend and go into lots of the lovely little boutiques that we have. I think it could have been something really special.

how about shutting the main road. Have free parking, free stalls for local businesses, charge for out of town stalls, and let the community provide entertainment for free. Create a real traditional community spirit.

This is a welcome event for the area. Cancelling is utter madness as local businesses will benefit from the many visitors I know we're looking forward to the event. X
