She was only doing her job, if she gets fired for this, I'm starting a riot!

This is a thought provoking subject for sure. I see nothing wrong with it.

Just because every little thing is now considered rascist by every little kid in highschool anymore doesn't mean it is. She's trying to peel eyes open and she did just that, allow an educator to stand out, to be a little more radical then another. Allow her to continue to teach and dare to be bold.

I don't think the teacher should lose her job over this... However... This picture represents the ideology of the Progressive left.... The Black lives matter movement and all those that think white people should be suppressed... This is not something to discuss in my book. Why don't we discuss solutions to our problems... Not trashing people with lies.

It is not right that an amazing teacher is going to lose her job over a stupid picture. She didn't do anything wrong and this is not fair.

She shouldn't lose her job over trying to educate our children.

It's a picture that is ment to start a conversation which is what the assignment was about. its time parents quit coddling their children and teach them about the real world.

OF COURSE the teacher shouldn't lose her job over this! Part of "education" is inquisitive and critical thinking. And an open mind is REQUIRED. This painting is a statement about a certain mindset prevalent in our society. Should our children be protected from that awareness and go out into the world unprepared? I don't THINK SO. Let this forward-thinking (and obviously intelligent and effective) teacher keep her job!

I never knew this teacher when I was attending Dayton Highschool from 05-09, but I do know one thing is that teachers like Ms. Clausen are unique and trying to be engaging students preparing them for what is to come when they are outside of High school. The world isn't all rainbows and flowers people quit getting offended over something that was originally made to ignite discussion for the students. I don't know what happened during these 5 years, but people are being over reactive and need to put that attention on things that do matter.

In a US History class is it not the job of the teacher to indeed teach about our nations history? The assignment in question asked students to look at a picture, and analyze it. What political and or historical concepts are are being exploited? How is this wrong? These are high school level students, and it yet another example of how our secondary school system is failing our youth in preparing them for college and the real world in general.

I support this local teacher for engaging kids! I hope she is still teaching when my daughter is old enough for high school! We need more teachers like this in Dayton to get our kids thinking about what's going on in the world.

I don't think there are even 1,000 students at Dayton haha, but pushing on 400 seems like a resounding opinion to me.

DHS grad here. This is art. If we cannot teach high school students to think critically about opinions possible different from their own, why bother sending them to school at all?

All of our kids should be so lucky to have a teacher that actually makes them think. I had three of them and I am all the better for it.

As a former DHS grad I'm glad to see that there are teachers bringing thought provoking content and critical thinking to the classroom . It's not about the "offensive nature" but the conversation and it has started that matters.
