Nothing wrong trying to get high school kids to make their own choice about thing. Good job teach. I have a son that goes to this school and a child that graduated in 2010.

Why Bully this poor girl! She is just trying to get her classroom to think through a "current events" subject that effects everyone. It's not easy to embrace much of what is happening in the world today.... but it doesn't mean we should ignore it either.

Lest we forget that the 1st amendment extends to both teachers and students.

I don't believe this teacher did anything wrong. And she isn't even the one who did the original painting I hope she doesn't get fired over this

This is such a shame... it's reasons like this that our society is in the situation it's in. We should be congratulating her for teaching our children that things aren't always the way they seem and that people need to think for themselves

Let her teach the children to make up ideas of their own and learn about the past, present and future.

Bringing awareness to high schoolers about reality should not be caused for dismissal.

It is paramount for students to learn critical thinking to fully function in the real world.

I am a middle age, conservative, respect a person in uniform, God fearing, woman. I do not understand why this teacher was suspended or why the school board apologized. We need critically thinking people. Political art can be disturbing, unsettling, offensive. That's the point.

Allowing political correctness to devastate education is reprehensible. Kids MUST learn critical thinking, i.e., the ability to form an opinion without being told what it will be by someone with an agenda, or they will not be able to function fully in the REAL world, away from academia.

Individuals have the right to be offended. Yet, what is becoming a growing problem is that someone taking offense takes precedence over the right to speak one's mind or to seek enlightenment. Sickening.

We need more teachers like Ms. Clausen -- not fewer.

The classroom should be a safe area to discuss these hot button issues that exist in society today. Ms. Clausen was opening the door for students to think critically about issues that affect them now and will continue to affect them as they become of voting age. Society will never improve if we limit educators in the classroom from addressing these issues in the classroom.
