We need more teachers to be provoking thoughts and in a way that teaches out kids to not grow up sending but rather critical thinkers. We need teachers like this to teach our children or we are all lost.

Its an art piece based off of a history based event , unfortunately people are sensitive and cant handle the truth. The fact that this happened, our country has had negative racist things happen and we need to be aware of them and address them not ignore them. People need to stop being so sensitive

This is the most ridiculous reason for a teacher to lose her job.

We have raised kids that are too busy getting offended to do their school.work and just see the parallels between the image and society, any parents that back firing this teacher, you are poor example of Americans and are just bandwagon political correctness morons. Way to support censorship and discrimination.

If this image is the true reason Ms. Clausen may be disciplined, we need to rethink our ideals. The image she portrayed is a form of art/propaganda. She was asking students to analyze a piece of art that reflects societal issues in today's society. She was not teaching her opinion or forcing her beliefs on students, but rather having them form their own opinion. This image can be analyzed many different ways- from attacking police or looking at how society is over dramatizing police efforts to maintain a safe community. This reaction to her final is over dramatized as well. As educators they cannot protect everyone from everything- they can only teach them to actually think. If the student was that offended he should have mentioned it to her and asked her for another picture to analyze. It sounds like he was grasping at straws, looking for an excuse as to why he didn't do well on the final. Another example of how students are entitled, teachers aren't supported, and allowing "inmates to run the asylum."

These kids will be voting in 1-2 years. Do you really think they shouldn't be subjected to controversial issues facing our country?

She had a right to assign this picture, it is the truth and it is apart of history.

The school board needs to grow a pair. This teacher did nothing wrong.

Props to Clausen for actually showing an article with some significance to what's going on in our society. Things shown on the news are far worse. Why can't students make their own opinions on real issues, instead of agreeing with what the media crams down our throats?

This assignment wasn't racist. This was thought provoking. We should celebrate teachers that encourage us to think outside the small box that can be our high school experience.

New teaching and learning one shouldn't be judged for trying to open a young mind to the reality of today. This is the world we live in and teaching try in-gauging students to learn and expresse their thoughts is a positive thing. Our world has become to offend over reality instead of her losing her job and a good teacher lets be open minded and less offended and support each other on what's going on in life and the world. Let her keep her job and help our younger generation learn.

People need to open their minds and explore all types of critical thinking and writing.

As an educator, I am appalled that an excellent teacher that is doing her job and actually making children use their brains is in danger of losing her job. Who is going to coddle these kids in the real world!?! They need to learn life is NOT candy canes and rainbows. And this teacher is trying to get them to think!

Let these kids open their minds and use their brains! Let them ask hard questions and get real life answers! The longer we keep it bottled up the worse it will become, generation after generation.

We need to stop babying our kids what this teacher did was not wrong these kids are old enough to have their own opinions and should be able to explore and know the truth about the world they will soon be entering
