A teacher should be able to bring up controversial issues or topics that students can learn from. The teacher did nothing in my eyes and people need to get over it.!

That's crazy to do this to her because of a few meaningless people

There is nothing offensive about the picture. School district should be ashamed for the way they are handling a freedom of expression and art.

I will defend this teacher until my last breath. She doesn't deserve to lose her job. It is just a picture. People over reacted to it and refuse to see why it was even used in class. She teaches us about real life issues we still face today. There isn't a more real teacher than her.

This assignment was brilliant and we should NOT be punishing educators for bringing intelligent conversations to the classroom.

How can you teach if you are politically correct.

I commend Ms. Clausen for caring enough to actually "TEACH" our young adults how to think on their own, and form their own opinions.

I support the way this image was used by the teacher. Learning critical thinking is important.

I cannot believe that people are still going on talking about how they don't "agree" with Clausen on this picture, what is there even to agree with? Not once did she ever say that this picture was okay or try to make us think it was. And not once did she say this is how she feels about the people in today's society. When she put it on the board she simply said analyze this photo and write down how it makes YOU feel or what YOU see in this picture, not once did she try to shove any opinion down our throats. If you don't have the teacher you shouldn't have an opinion, jumping to conclusions and making false accusations when you know absolutely NOTHING does not do anything but cause controversy between people who have her as a teacher and know that she goes above and beyond to teach us about things in America's history and people who do not have her and haven't even had a conversation and know absolutely nothing about the situation. If your child has a problem or you have a problem with this picture that portrays events that happened in our history take your child out of that class because they obviously cannot handle the truth and neither can you. The only thing Clausen ever did was ask us how we felt about this picture, so before you make false accusations about what you think happened form solid facts and then maybe you can have an opinion.

Ms. Clausen does not deserve to lose her job. What she deserves is a pat on the back for making her students think and express themselves.

Why??? Let the teacher do her job! Lets worry about drugs and teen pregnancy in our community! I bet not one person that is upset has a parental control on their own tv or computer

She's teaching about propaganda, to students who should be learning critical thinking skills (required in the new curriculum). As a parent of 2 former Dayton graduates I fully support her and her teaching. We need more educators who are willing to engage our youth and bring real life, timely examples into the conversation.

It's not like she drew the picture and told people this is what she felt, people! It's a triggering image but it's SUPPOSED to be! She could've gotten a slap on the wrist or a suspension but some people got too highly offended at a picture that was used for nothing more than educational purposes. They even accused the wrong teacher at first. A cop got offended and a teacher paid a price that not only jeopardized her career, but publicly shamed her. I didn't have this woman as a teacher but things have been taken too far.
