Please reconsider. The assessment shows there are better alternatives.

My kid went to Cherry Balley, and a key part of the environment are the wonderful trees. There is every reason to save them as a key teachable lesson in environmental responsibility.

Every town needs to do it's part to combat climate change. Removing mature trees takes away much needed shade and sequestered carbon.

As a resident of Sonoma County, I strongly urge Petaluma City Schools to halt the current construction plan and protect Cherry Valley Park. We do not have to choose between education and the environment. Expanding classroom space is a vital goal, but executing it by destroying approximately 30 mature, healthy native trees is a short-sighted approach that inflicts irreversible damage on our local ecosystem and community health. Mature urban tree canopies are irreplaceable assets for climate resilience—they mitigate localized heat, safeguard air quality, provide critical wildlife habitat, and offer essential green space for students and neighbors alike. Removing this park directly undermines the principles of environmental stewardship we should be modeling for our children. I call on the district to commit to a transparent public process, conduct a thorough environmental review, and actively explore alternative configurations on the campus that preserve this invaluable community asset. We can, and must, find a solution that supports both our students and our environment.

It is imperative that we leave these trees to do the important tasks they are designed to do. DO NOT CUT THEM DOWN!

I live nearby, and walk past this park frequently. No matter the day or time, I always see people and their dogs enjoying the park. Damaged or ill trees may need to be removed, but this project seems to be targeting relatively health trees that could just be in need of pruning. Please reconsider!

This is not only a crime, murdering trees that are our actual planetary lungs, but it sends a terrible message to our children about our priorities. That greed takes precedent over our stated convictions to protect trees and our environment.

Trees provide beauty, shade, home to many birds, wind screens, give students a touch of nature and the importance. DO NOT CUT ONE TREE DUE TO LAZY AND IGNORANCE OF SOME SHORT SIGHTED COMMITTEE. BEST TO CUT DOWN THE COMMITTEE.

Taking out trees is not sound and irreparable. It's important to use a different space.

Cherry Valley Park is an important community green space that provides shade, cleaner air, wildlife habitat, and a safe outdoor area for students, families, and neighbors. Once these mature trees are cut down, the environmental damage cannot be undone. Please do the right thing. Preserve these healthy trees! Support the health of our community and our world. Thank you.

Too many trees have been cut down in Petaluma over the years that has decreased the charm the city once had.
