Destroying 50-100 year old trees is such a waste when you could build the addition ON THE ACTUAL CAMPUS

I love this school and deeply value its role in our community. However, I am profoundly disappointed by the district’s handling of this project and the manner in which it has been advanced. It is troubling that a school district is not held to many of the same regulations and standards that local residents and developers must follow.
The loss of this open space is permanent. Once a building of this scale is constructed, there is no opportunity to restore what has been lost. In many communities, new development is required to incorporate parks and green space because these areas provide lasting benefits to residents and contribute to the character and well-being of a neighborhood.
While I fully support the need for updated school facilities, I do not believe this is the appropriate location. This space is actively used by the community every day. I regularly see families with young children and strollers enjoying the area throughout the week. Just last week, I observed two retired neighbors gathering there for coffee. It serves as a valuable and welcoming place for people of all ages to connect, exercise, and enjoy the outdoors.
I respectfully urge PCS to reconsider this proposal and explore alternatives that preserve this cherished community resource for future generations.

Plenty of room where the portables are, the homeowners will suffer with property value, emergency vehicles will have trouble, traffic and we need green spaces.

If the trees are healthy, save the trees. Trees outweigh the benefits of a concrete jungle. It is proven that students thrive when nature is incorporated into their school environment. Whose silly idea is it to take the trees down instead of pruning them? That’s ridiculousz

Leave the trees alone for the children. No one will live long enough to see measly saplings mature.

They could easily tear down the molding portables and put in a new 2 story building

With Petaluma Tree Ordinance, don’t they need to go thru the new procedure? The idea is to save as many trees as possible. Seems like 30 trees is excessive.

NO!!! It is our green space, don't take it away. There is plenty of room in the back of the school to expand.

The use of this park for classrooms is completely inappropriate and bad planning. Another bad choice for the beautiful historic landscape of Petaluma.

Mature trees should NEVER be cut down, unless they pose a risk from being diseased.
