Please, reconsider this design. These are healthy, mature native trees and the park provides a place for people to go and sit and be in shade and clean air. Do NOT cut these trees down. Think better, design better.

It is a shame we cannot be more creative and considerate of these old growth trees when deciding how to bring improvement to our campus.

Please, let's keep our Cherry Valley Park. It will help with clearing the monoxide from the all the traffic in that area. Let's keep Petaluma green.

With adequate and required notice to affected neighbors and the community, this would not have been approved. STOP the tree removals until all other options on the school land have been exhausted!

I live on Cherry across from the park, never heard anything about this project until after it was a done deal. When I lived across town the city pulled a similar 'fast one' over a street realignment. When public agencies stoop to this kind of cheesey nonsense it's just galling. The district got an EIR exemption but they don't conform to the requirements since they're increasing the number of students and destroying significant natural features in the process.

While adding classrooms is great, with the current population in flux and birth rates declining, I would assume such additions useless within ten years, meanwhile parks and especially mature trees will maintain their value to the community well beyond that timeline. The school should be required to do an environmental study and publish it publicly before any additonal work is done.

There are other sites available nearby, also owned by the school district, that could be used instead of destroying these trees and this cherished neighborhood park.

Please save these trees. One was planted in memory of a landscaper that was born and raised here back in 1989.
