The Dublin City Council has officially withdrawn the proposal to build housing on Cherry Orchard Park. We are now shifting our focus to formalizing a long-term maintenance agreement with the parks department to ensure the space remains protected. Thank you for maintaining the pressure required to reach this outcome.

The Stone Soup Project seeks support from within the community to save Cherry Orchard Park. The Park belongs to the community and is in the care of DCC. The Park was abandoned by DCC and left derelict. In 2013 the residents of Cherry Orchard reclaimed the Park by removing over 600 bags of rubbish, removing all the weeds from around the edging, turning the sod, planting daffodil bulbs, shrubs, flowers and memorial trees, building a grotto and memorial walkway. In agreement with DCC Parks dept the grass was cut during the cutting season and all rubbish collected by the residents removed by the dept. This is truly a Peoples Park cared for and nourished by the community. Please support our Petition to stop the building of houses on our Park

I have spent this week compiling the history of our community maintenance efforts to present directly to the council planning office. We are currently preparing a formal letter of objection to ensure our prior maintenance agreement is officially documented in the new hearing.

It would be such a shame if they took this amenity from the people of Orchard lawns. All of the hard work that has gone into making it a beautiful space by the amazing volunteers! It is a meeting point and a hobby for so many of the neighbours and their relatives.

The hard work put in to the park should not be dismissed just because it suits the council. They didn't bother with it for years

The residents have done a great job reclaiming this park. The memorial trees are just beautiful and a great way to remember loved ones that we lost. We cannot let this park be destroyed by the DCC.

This is a park that was designated to the residence of cherry orchard and now after memorials and the care that the local people have taken, someone somewhere has just decided to build on a park full of memories. To go ahead with this just goes to show the morals of our Government. How many TD s and councilors promised on the doorstep that they would not let this happed. They got their vote so why should they keep their end of the bargain. SHAME ON YOU HEARTLESS PEOPLE.
