To this day as a 4 year cheerleader at CCHS and then went on to be a coach for 3 years at CCHS, I STILL cheer in my head. It never leaves you. The program creates a sense of belonging and character. It also keeps them out of trouble! Need a coach - Sign me up!

Save the High school Cheer Leading team. It gives girls the empowerment they don't always have at home! Save sports and fine arts in the school systems!

I can't believe they want to do this. Cheerleading was the best thing that ever happened to me at Central. I learned so much and made some great friends and it helped me to get to be the cheerleader in college that I am now. I can only see how this would hurt girls that want to find a fun and challenging way to come out of their shells like I did. Removing the program would only take away from the school and the students.

When the Cheektowaga cheer squads went to competition to bring back to the school all of the trophies that are in the front hall, they represented their school. To prepare it took teamwork, strength, stamina, flexibility, trust and dedication. Wouldn't you want your daughter to learn all of that?

Coming from someone who spent their entire high school time cheer, this is honestly heartbreaking. As a graduate of Cheektowaga, I have seen the program go downward for quite sometime now, but that doesn't mean it should be first on the chopping block. I always remember as a cheerleader, the struggles of getting the things we needed, permission, and respect at the school. This doesn't surprise me to say the least. It was only a matter of time these people tried to get rid of the cheerleading program. I really hope that they see that this isn't a good idea, and no matter how many people want to cheer, it should still be offered. The team doesn't even ask for much, at least they didn't back in my day.

To lose this program would be a disservice at the least to the school and the community. So many great young girls have grown into amazing woman from the experience, guidance and leadership provided by this sport. It would be devistating to see it go.
