Charlie's bar has a very special place in my heart, as both the start of my nursing career and many of the promotions and advances in careers were celebrated there. The social club is vital to QEII and the positive staff culture that's recently suffered.

It is extremely sad that the NMHS is placing more value on the rent associated with an old building on site, than the morale of its employees who take great enjoyment out of this facility. I feel sorry for the staff who have been coming to Charlie's Bar for decades, and now have to say goodbye to it so that the administrators can make a measly saving toward their overall bottom line... this is definitely a "dollar first/employee last" decision.

This would be a great loss to the staff and visitors of the site. It's a professionally run establishment benefiting hundreds of overworked and unappreciated staff - people who don't like it, don't have to go there.

Aside from having the great priviledge of bartending at CB for 2 hours, I've had my fondest experiences, chats and meet ups with people from various healthcare backgrounds through the the many Friday social gatherings at the bar. As a student it was always the highlight of my week and something I looked forward, good week or bad. It's been a go to place for many people of all statures to come together, and my greatest honour was being able to serve the community as a CB staff. I'd be devastated to see a place of such historical value and promising hope for future collaboration and friendships be lost. It will be a huge loss to the healthcare community losing CB and all the potential unity it could bring to the QEII precinct.

Staff morale on SCGH is so compromised already. Staff members feel very undervalued and overwhelmed with the expectations of NMHS. The social club is an important facility for people to share some downtime with colleagues when they all live in different directions - good personal relationships keep working relationships strong. It also enables staff to recognise and celebrate their colleagues socially when important events occur. Closing the social club would be an enormous loss to knowledge sharing, team feel and a go-to place for social events. This decision is a reflection of the disdain staff are dealing with.
