Charlie’s is integral to bringing all of us in QEII together as a community of scientists and friends. We will lose that feeling of togetherness and our favourite hang out spot. Pls don’t let that happen!

Charlies Bar is an important place for staff to meet, relax and connect. It is also a visible sign that NMAHS cares about its staff and their wellbeing. The cost to morale of closing this facility would be considerable.

The Charlie's Bar is the only area on site that is free from the public eye and allows for inter-departmental mingling. This experience brings teams together and aids in the reduction of burn-out which is such a prevalent issue in health care through the provision of a safe environment to debrief in a social setting.

Charlie's bar should not close and NMHS , SCGH and QEII should support it financially and remove the commercial leases that was offered as it is an institution to all employees. The facility is a good place for staff to unwind, this boosts staff morale and makes us feel valued as employees of SCGH and NMHS.

Charlie's Bar has provided an essential service to all occupants of the QEII campus, which cannot be replaced by offsite commercial venues or ad hoc events. A venue for staff to congregate, commiserate and congratulate is vital. 42 years of member support should be recognised!
