This facility is used by many on the campus as a place to meet up and collaborate, both between researchers on the campus and also national and international visitors.

As a former board member who volunteered a lot of time and effort to help this place run, I’m disgusted that NMAHS would push the social club out.

This is a travesty and comes across as a mean-spirited action by NMHS.
If R block was being redeveloped and the space would no longer be available, that would be a little more understandable (only just).
If it had to be moved, an alternative location should be offered at reasonable rates for a staff facility, especially if the gym has been granted such a deal.
If no need to vacate R block then this petition needs to get NMHS to reconsider this uncharitable decision to remove yet more of the remaining staff incentives at work that do assist in goodwill between staff and their employer.
Should we don the yellow fluoro jackets and start protesting?!

Great place to meet during happy and sad times of working in WA health and medical research sector. It has been the point of contact for a lot of collaborative and networking functions, which will unfortunately be lost from Perth without an alternative option in place. Shortsighted decision that does not take impact to the local community into account.

I agree it will be a shame if this place closes up. I go there often with my lab and helps to discuss science and network in a relaxed manner and is really close to the lab, so frankly a shame that it closes up.

This facility is of great value to the QEII community and the morale of campus staff. It should not be killed by neglect from the administration... especially as large swathes of the campus remain empty.
