How can a city like Canterbury with so many international visitors, and a World Heritage site as well, even consider closing a museum dealing with Canterbury's history?

I would like to say I can't believe Canterbury City Council want to close the Canterbury Heritage Museum, but I cannot. Please let those people who are interested in Canterbury's history and heritage take it over to keep together the collections and archives which are so valuable to the people of Canterbury, visitors and academics.

It is so important to preserve the history of the city through awareness and the museum educates individuals.

The Canterbury Heritage Museum plays/ should play a crucial part in telling Canterbury's story to local residents and tourist alike. As a school teacher here in Canterbury I personally value the role the museum plays in educating young people about local and national history Ina hands- on way. We need the museum! I cannot believe that a world heritage site as Canterbury can afford to loose a place like this! It is, as all public places challenged by forever changing expectations but this is something that all museums/ educational institutions do! . The vicious circle started with closing it over the winter months. Lets improve it instead of closing it down. Doro Thyssen

I would live yo help. I'm an architect and have a keen interest in museums and amusements. I have BIG ideas for the museum that would benefit it financially. Closing it now is short sighted, discussing great ideas on how to be better is long term

I understand that the Council has to make cuts as this government has made thing extremely tricky. Please allow the supporters the form a new trust to take over the operation of the Museum and continue to allow access to this amazing collection

Such a pity to close this which is part of the fabric of Canterbury. I know cuts mean hard decisions but can't a volunteer team be considered? I'd sign up.

Hard to see what is to be gained by closing the museum telling the story of one of Britain's great historic cities. Is this CCC's idea of modernisation?

We have been bringing our children and now our grandchildren to the museum for many years now and they have all had a unique experience in finding out more of the history of Canterbury as well as hands on play and learn exhibits .It would be such a shame to close it down .

Museums and libraries should be protected at all costs, not closed because of them. They are an invaluable and irreplaceable education resource.
Keep it open ! Don't destroy our heritage
