It needs more promotion. Many visitors don't know of its existence.

These smaller centres are so important to our historical culture. It is just too easy to close them and see them go forever, such a short-sighted mistake.

It's unthinkable that a World Heritage site and ancient city like Canterbury would close a museum dedicated to story. Surely residents and visitors alike benefit from it.

It would be catastrophic to close the museum rather than publicise it widely for educational and tourist reasons.

CHM is really attractive, set within a beautiful medieval building, against the River Stour and Greyfriars garden. With better signage and proactive promotion you will surely increase visitor numbers and revenue. Keep the building in use as a museum and work with the consortium to increase visitors and reduce costs.

A city of the historical importance of Canterbury cannot lose its local history museum - the Poor Priest'sHospital is also the ideal setting for this collection. Other options must be explored - Faversham saved Fleur de Lis we need to explore similar solutions.

It is bad enough that this is closed half the year; tourism is one of Canterbury's two biggest industries and it is stupid beyond words to close this down.

Of course visitor numbers have dropped over the past year - the museum is closed all winter. I should be open shorter hours during the winter.

I cannot imagine a City Council wishing to close a center such as the Canterbury Heritage Museum in lieu of working with all the vested organizations and trusts that have offered their combined resources to modernize and make relevant to today's public the many aspects of Kent's and Canterbury's history. I urge the Council to take a Guardian's leadership role and develop the Center's future while conserving its past.
