It would be a disgrace if all the money spent on restoring this wonderful building was in effect wasted

Preservation of material and information which records the past is vital in this digital age plus the help and advice of relevant professionals.

This building lends itself ideally to a Museum not a Performing Arts centre.
The Council own The Marlowe Theatre why not use that for their intended purpose?
If the Council insist on using this site for Youth activities then perhaps they could allocate us another building for historical use.?

I fear that the closing of the Museum would be the first step towards the Council selling the building. The Museum should instead pass to a group which has the necessary commitment to maintain it as an asset for the community.

Canterbury is such an important heritage centre and this cultural heritage underpins its economy as well as its character. Rather than closing the museum ways should be found to enhance its attractiveness and it should be FREE so that it can make a real contribution to the cultural, educational and [yes, as a free museum] economic vitality of the city.

Local Authorities cannot retreat in to administrators of nothing. The present financial position is Government made, is not inevitable, and policy must change. This closure is another example of utter philistinism posing as necessity. It isn't.
