This is important work, younger people need opportunities and locations to connect with history.

Canterbury is an historic town & both the residents & visitors are interested in it's history & heritage. Museums & heritage centers are vital to the economy.

Please don't close just needs better marketing, better opening times and realistic entrance fee. It's too important to close, let's not lose even more of our history.

I cannot believe that this is even being considered. I remember before it became the museum and thought when it opened what a wonderful resource for the city. The closure MUST not be allowed to happen.

Please do not close this important heritage site. It's good for Canterbury as many people visit as tourists. I' m one of them. Hands off!

Canterbury council has no interest in the history of the city. If the council gets its way the Heritage Museum buildings will be bulldozed to make way for flats etc.

For the city of Chaucer and Augustine, of Ethelbert and Bertha, for the cradle of Christianity and the Anglo-Saxon Kingdom of Kent. For our Iron Age ancestors who settled by the River Stour, and Caesar's legions who met them in battle. For saintly Abbess Mildreth, Alphege battered to death with beef bones and Dunstan and the devil. For Thorkel the Tall whose Viking army besieged and burned and those to fought against him. For William the Conqueror, the Norman Castle and Lanfranc's cathedral of dazzling Caen stone. For the colourful inhabitants of our medieval city; for wealthy royal financier Jacob the Jew, high street shop owner Susanna de Planaz, and Ingenulph the Plumber. For our literary giants Christopher Marlowe and Joseph Conrad. For Huguenots fleeing persecution and settlers past and present who have made this city great. For Robert Cushman who hired the Mayflower and the Canterbury Pilgrims who helped found America. For George and Robert Stephenson, the Invicta locomotive and the Crab and Winkle Railway. For the brave fire watchers, firemen, air raid wardens and women ambulance drivers who helped save the city and its people in the Baedeker Blitz. For its magical children's stories and storytellers. For Bagpuss, the Clangers and Rupert Bear. For the millions of visitors who come to explore the authentic history of our unique World Heritage city. For the people of Canterbury, past, present and future. Save Canterbury Heritage Museum!

Our heritage is too valuable to sacrifice for short-term financial savings which, in practice, amount to administrative vandalism.

Daughter and son-in-law from Wyoming, U.S.A. were very impressed with the museum last October. They hope to see it again in May this year. Keep it open and active.

This is such a lovely and illuminating museum of the topographical and cultural history of the City it seems such a shame!

This is a GREAT museum, and Canterbury City Council needs to take a leaf out of York's book by finally promoting the town's historical significance (key to the whole nation's history) dynamically and creatively, rather than ignoring it for short-term gain. We need more than the Beaney! We need investment in a state-of-the-art museum that brings Canterbury's timeline alive, and then sell it to the max to the 3 million + tourists who come here every year. Now that's what I call a long-term gain. So, listen, Canterbury City Council, all you need to do is realise that you're shooting yourself in the foot if it you don't re-consider this. C'mon! It's time you upped your game.

We must keep this and our other City Museums open if we are to continue us attracting visitors to our special City. Much of the City centre is now looking rundown with empty shops or yet another chain restaurant so let's work on our important heritage.
