But we could afford the giant griffin statue? Real classy Canisius.

I wouldn't be who I am today if I was not a member of the Canisius dance. Every member of cheer and dance becomes a life long Canisius athletics fan and in this case a season ticket holder. It is very upsetting that students today won't have the same opportunity that I did.

As a former college cheerleader and lifelong lover of the sport, I find it an absolute travesty to hear that an up and coming collegiate program has been cut. These athletes deserve better as they are the spirit and heart of your institution. I urge you to reconsider this.

As an alumni who watched school spirit fade this past year, we can't lose our cheerleaders! Not only does it provide the student body with a boost to our spirit and an added punch at athletic events, but it provides the members of the team with the ability to pursue the sport they love at a collegiate level, as well as camaraderie and friendships that last a lifetime. KEEP THE SQUAD!

Ask the fans- the cheerleading and dance teams are a huge entertainment during the games. This is a terrible decision.

I am disappointed at Canisius, as someone who helped out as the tumbling coach with the Cheerleading team I can say firsthand that the individuals on both the Cheer team and the Dance team are some of the most hard working people I have ever met. They are all dedicated to their teammates and their school. This was a decision made without considering the students involved and I am happy to see the push to alter this unfortunate situation.

Being a cheer alumni of Canisius I was stunned when I found out about the recent changes at the college. Cheerleading isn't about pom poms and looking good in a uniform. If you've never been on a cheerleading team before you wouldn't understand. It's about the dedication, teamwork, and leadership skills that you develop. It's about learning to push yourself past your limits, in a good way. Without cheerleading I would have never gotten involved in other activities at Canisius and never had the experiences that I did. To cut this without warning is unfair to the girls who are currently cheering at Canisius but also unfair to the girls who come to Canisius in the future.

As a former dance griff you are making the absolute worse decision. Dance and cheerleading encourages these young ladies to believe in something, allows them to dream beyond their wildest dreams, and you are taking this all away.

Very disappointed that such a college of this caliber would cut such an important and valued sport The dancers and individuals involved on these teams may have very well made their choice to go to this college for these opportunities along with the academics.

I would like a real reason for their decision to cut the program when the cheerleaders fundraised 99% of what they needed - our company also donated $100 for their trip to Florida that never happened -we will writing a letter demanding a refund

When deciding which college to attend, I chose Canisius because of the strong cheerleading team. Cutting both dance and cheer teams would be a major loss to the school and the students. Both teams bring so much spirit and enthusiasm in different ways to the Canisius basketball games. Canisius needs both teams to continue.

This is not fair to the girls who work so hard at this every yr. They do so much for the school spirit! I feel you may lose present and future students bc of this decision.

When I came to Canisius as a freshman I had a really hard time adjusting and becoming comfortable with the atmosphere. The dance team played a big part in my decision to go to Canisius and an even larger part in my decision to stay. The teams not only promote school spirit, but give many students a group of friends and a comfortable place where they can release their stress. I can't imagine the second half of my four years at Canisius without this team. I love the girls I get to dance with and I'm so thankful this team brought me that group of friends. Don't take away that opportunity for so many students.

Please don't do this Canisius. The Cheerleadig and dance teams add so much to the atmosphere of your school. I am a NU grad and have seem your cheer and dance teams for many years please don't stop these important ambassadors of Canisius.
