I think it is wrong to cut both programs. If anything, the two should be combined to give girls the opportunity to be on this sort of team. The school needs more then just C-Block. I feel every school is in need of a cheer team. Please reconsider this decision.

Very sad to hear about this. Dance Griffs and the Cheer team kept basketball games fun and filled with team spirit. I'm sure the students on the team were heartbroken to hear this news. I'd be so upset if one of my clubs was cut off without explanation!

The Dance Griffs is where I met some of my best friends and made some of my best memories. These teams are just like any other sports team at the college. It develops the same social and discipline skills. If they do away with the teams, I'll be very sad for those that will never have the positive experiences that so many have had.

No doubt in my mind that this transition in funds is going to be allocated towards the D1 athletic teams. I'm disappointed in the school's lack of communication.

As an alumni I am extremely disappointed in the decision to eliminate cheer and dance. These programs are just as important to the college and the student body, as any athletic team. Games at the KAC will be nothing like fans are used to and visiting schools will wonder what is wrong with Canisius. I'm sure the decision made sense to whoever made it, for whatever reason, but it is silly. It's time for Athletics to do what is right for the students, the teams, and the college. Go Griffs!

As a school that prides itself on athletics, I find it odd that Canisius is eliminating two teams that work so hard and give so much to Canisius sporting events. These teams both do a lot of independent fundraising. Many past prospective students, myself included, chose to attend Canisius in the hope of being a part of either one of these teams. They already cut the dance major a few years ago, now this? I am sick of seeing the college cut everything that made me want to attend Canisius in the first place--things that give it the community-based close-knit feel that I was looking for as a high school senior 6 years ago. I hope you're enjoying your shiny griffin statue.

I understand budget cuts need to happen to stay afloat, but why cut student programs that keep current students happy and productive and inspired and that also makes Canisius look more appealing to future prospective students?

It is a great way for women to continue their love of dance and cheerleading into college at a competitive level. The women of Canisius deserve to be able to have that opportunity!

My daughter was on the dance team all four years. This was an amazing experience for her. It would be a shame to cancel the program.
