One team for both cheer and dance would cause unnecessary changes to two strong programs. The idea of one spirit squad is radical.

The dance team was a part of my family far away from home. Keep it that way for the dancers of Canisius!

As a member former member (2006-2010) and cocaptain (2008-2010) of the dance team, I'm extremely sadden by this news. Being apart of the team not only allowed me to grow and learn as a person and a dancer but also gave me the opportunity to meet many new people. Dance has always been a passion of mine and I was happy in so many ways I could dance throughout my whole college career. Please continue to give this opportunity to future dance and cheer team members.

As a life long cheerleader and cheer Coach I am appalled by this. Cheerleading is the ultimate team sport...there are no time outs, no subs and without the effort of the entire team, things don't happen. The life lessons that are learned during a single cheer season can stay with a cheerleader their entire life. The skill and athleticism required to be a cheerleader has been built and worked on over many years and to have it stripped away is so unjust. PLEASE RECONSIDER KEEPING THIS CLUB SPORT.

I don't believe it is fair to cut both programs without something concrete to replace it. Cheering and dancing are quite different and to ask these girls to combine into a "spirit squad" is not fair. This is something many girls have devoted a great amount of time to and are passionate about. Getting rid of it doesn't seem fair, especially when a $100,000 statute was just purchased by the school. There has to be better budgeting if things like this are going to continue to happen. No one will want to attend Canisius if it keeps cutting programs many people are proud of and interested in.

Please bring cheerleading back to Canisius. It is a huge part of my life and the lives of other smart beautiful hard-working women. We love what we do and want to continue to do it as a Team. Creating another team that combines dance and cheer in its place is not a solution for reducing school costs or gym time. Both Cheerleading and dance teams compete differently and are two entirely different sports. You only see what we do during games but never see or care to visit us or talk to us outside when we are diligently working on our own skills. For those who have made this decision, I ask you to please reconsider and return dance and cheer to what it was. This may seem like a small change and simple solution to you because you've never done cheer and dance, but to us who make up the distinguished teams, doing so is a huge change and one that greatly alters our ability to do well and desire to participate in something we are not. If combining rugby and football sounds silly to you, I'm sure you can imagine how silly such a real decision like this sounds to us.

Not fair to the students who have put so much into this. timing all off. If you need to cancel, start at freshman year.

as a high school cheerleader, I am appalled that a college could do this. sports are a major part of the college experience, not to meant ion that cheerleading is part of the team spirit! I am hopefully that this college will re-think this decision
