As a long term Calderdale resident and only recently moved away I am horrified to think a cull could take place in Calderdale and very strongly oppose any plan to to carry one out.

The cause of the very small numbers of bovine TB in cattle in Calderdale is infection which originates in cattle from high TB areas such as the SW of England. Calderdale's badgers do not have TB; and it would be totally wrong to scapegoat them when they neither harbour nor pass on the bovine TB cattle disease.

I trust in the consensus of scientific opinion. Personally, I've only seen dead badgers at the sides of roads. Looking forward to having them in my garden.
Cruelty to animals is gradually on the wane, far too slowly for me.

Culling badgers is proven not to work and there is no TB in Calderdale. It is morally wrong to kill a wild animal that has done no wrong other than to try and exist living along side mankind.

as far as I know tb is not present in the badger population in calderdale

Culling is inhumane, inefficient, unscientific and cruel.
PLEASE do not allow Calderdale to become involved in this terrible action, show that we are intelligent and better than this and do not follow the masses.

Culling badgers is inhumane and not scientifically proven to be effective. It's still even debatable that TB is passed from badger to bovine populations.

Culling should be illegal, not promoted, I find the thought of it stomach turning and couldn't bare to think it happening to all my local badgers which mean so much to me. I have really felt for all those who love badgers in the culling zones, and cant even begin to imagine what it would be like if the so called 'project' was rolled out!!

FFS this is 2014. Badger culling has no scientific credibility. It is just a political decision made by an unelected coalition, to satisfy their cash donating landowner friends who consider badgers to be a nuisance on their large estates.
