By all means, save Blue Hill, the most beautiful town in Maine, in all New England, for that matter.

I used to live there for many years and I don't want to see it change. It has it's own unique character since it a quiet small town.

The state of maine has banned billboards in the state to protect the majestic and beauty of the state, and everything in it.. Popping up a dollar store in the middle of blue hill would take away from what people come here for.. majestic beauty.

We need to keep what's left of our rural towns just the way they are. What's next? Skyscrapers in the middle of Otis, ME, too? Blue Hill is a beautiful place to visit/live. Let's not ruin it's scenery my over populating it with unnecessary buildings.

Family Dollar is a store that carries cheaply made products, many made in China where there is little control over poisonous chemicals in the production. These items are packaged in plastic. They also carry chemical ridden, nutritionally void 'food.' Why would we allow a store that 1/2 of what it brings into our town goes out at plastic packaging trash for our dumps to handle, and all of what it brings is bad for people or the environment? The entire purpose of a Family Value store is to provide cheep products. Why would we want to cripple our town by promoting cheep, disposable, junk with no redeemable value to our community?

Blue Hill is too beautiful to commercialize.

I'm no snob but I spent a few years living in Blue Hill. I have amazing memories. I can't imagine driving through such a quant town and seeing a red and orange Family Dollar sign. There's a small drive to the town of Ellsworth. Makes zero sense.

Blue Hill has such potential, and we could be sitting on a gold mine of tourist dollars with 'destination potential'. The current direction is devaluing my town, and as a resident and parent it sickens me.

One thing that makes this community so unique is the intentionality with which so many residents have decided to live here. Many of us chose this place for our home specifically because it lacks large chain businesses. If people want cheap dollar store merchandise, there's already a competitor 15 miles away. We don't need one here too.

We want quality stores that are a value to our residents while also upholding the character and integrity of the town of Blue Hill. We do not want our town to turn into a cheap downtown of general strip mall stores.

I grew up in Blue Hill and other small Maine towns. I've lived in several states since then and seen the damage corporate chain stores do to local, small-business based economies. I urge Blue Hill to block this development and create a zoning board and zoning regulations with significant input from local citizens.

Small businesses have had a tough time in our community. We do not need to compete with corporate big business. We need to support, and build the creativity of our local businesses. Blue Hill deserves to shine on it's own merits.

I like Blue Hill the way it is. When people ask me where I live, I say that I live in a quaint town on the coast and I would prefer it stay that way!
