...and destroying the Green Space only serves to increase Global Warming with no plan to offset the carbon footprint. It’s time Fairfax County began to start Thinking Globally and Acting Locally and trying to be a part of the solution instead of a part of the problem. Fairfax County and the School Board have a responsibility not only to their constituents but also to the younger generation. They need to become much more environmentally responsible and show that through innovation and resourcefulness they can actually contribute to preserving the future of the County and it’s Green Spaces; and, not its decline through pig-headed, blind wholesale destruction, irresponsible spending, and short-sighted, antiquated building plans and design.

What about AIR QUALITY? In addition to ALL of the buses, cars, and delivery trucks idling and making pollution, we will be losing yet more GREEN SPACE which among other things serves to help clean the air and process carbon dioxide into oxygen. Does anyone on the School Board actually pay attention to the Science that is supposedly taught in your schools?

We do not need another school here. So many families will be forced to move. We do not need traffic any worse here. It will affect housing, commutes and people’s lives.

I agree with this petition. There are already two elementary schools within the vicinity (Oakton and Mosby Woods, alongsids a Highschool. Adding another elementary school will add MORE traffic to the already full traffic mornings. The green space is precious and there are two few left in our communities. Stop this madness.

We need to join forces! We in Williamsburg Square, Terrace Towne Homes of Gunston, Shepherd Hills, and the Highlands at Gunston HOAs have a similar issue within the Mount Vernon District --- Fairfax County is taking away much of Lorton Park to expand the current Lorton Library, build a new Lorton Community Center and relocate an NCS-sponsored, non-government organization into the taxpayer-funded new facility. All this in spite of available alternate sites that we have referred to the County.

I urge local government officials to evaluate the park with respect to the One Fairfax policy.
