Save Beckford – Stop ECV doubling the size of the village

Just looking at this, it seems the addition of such a building would be incongruous within the context. Surely there are better places, more suitable to take the extra load of people and services that such a development would bring. What provisions are in place to cope with the extra volume of traffic and residents, has this been considered. Where do the people who are profitting from this venture live?

I'm only just learning of this proposal but can't see how it benefits the local community. I fully appreciate the need for appropriate housing for older people, but developments shouldn't be approved if they are detrimental to a local community, especially in concern of the environment and flooding which frequently blights Beckford.

We often visit family in Beckford and always make time to go for a walk and enjoy the area, would be terrible to see the AONB and surrounds degraded.

Too many villages being spoilt by over development, Beckford must not be spoilt!

Today's anonymous comment makes a completely false allegation about me. What's your name, dear sir or madam?

Don't ruin our villages and countryside please

This petition is a joke. The only reason there are so many signatures is because most of them are fake, and people who do not even live in the village are signing it. Nobody that does not live in Beckford should have an opinion about what goes on here. This is potentially a great development that will bring jobs into the local area which are surely needed when some villagers are travelling over 30 miles each way to get to work. Also all the complainers did not object to the houses being built by vale wildlife, or the ones by the Beckford Inn. No. Of course not. Then there is the fact that both Martin Spice and Leslie Perrin have both got financial interests in this development failing as they approached the landowners to buy the land as they wanted to build expensive homes around the lake. Failed to mention that didnt they!

A very bad choice against Rural England

Another attempt to diminish the ever shrinking wildlife habitats.

Interesting that vale wildlife will be given funding for an education centre in return for allowing their land to be built on. Vale wildlife rescue, that are Trying to protect our wildlife yet will allow a huge site to be built on destroying many habitats? Eg. All the deer that graze that land.

It would be such a shame to ruin an idyllic Cotswold Village, Beckford, in order to create a development of ANY kind, let alone a so called retirement village. Keep Beckford as it is so that residents and visitors can still enjoy its natural and important beauty and history.

It would be terrible to have yet another area of outstanding natural beauty damaged like this.

Quaint English villages cannot retain their charm when you double its size please leave it be

Keep our village precious we must preserve our heritage and prevent any more bishops cleeves from ruining our countryside and way of life

We must preserve the villages and village life in our country, you cannot just keep on building more and more houses and destroying our beautiful countryside. We do no have the infrastructure for such a massive building project.
