leave B&B's alone. They create jobs and also alternatives for those with limited dollars who wish to visit Chicago. Less money to hotels and more to spend at restaurants, theaters and all that Chicago has to offer.

The planned (threatened?!) tax reclassifiction is very unfair and very very unproductive. If the very gracious small B&B in Chicago at which I have stayed a number of times closes (which it and others in Cook County will surely do if you do not back away from your disastrous, unwarranted and clearly autocratic, arbitrary plan to tax these small operations at hotel rates!), the tax monies that have come to Cook Co. and Chicago through my (and others' ) frequent overnight stays ind Chicago will cease, because I will not shift my business to hotels but rather to unlicensed "airbnb" places--or stay with friends. Those of us who like the homey touch of B&Bs will be lost as an income-producing source of tourism for the county. What short-sighted (and, again, totally unfair) exercise (even ABUSE) of power by Joe Berrios: shame on you!

This is horrible! I can't believe Chicago would do this to small businesses! It's horrible that Chicago is against them when they add so much to the city! Go against something negative, not such a positive addition to Chicago.

We have been staying at licensed B&b's in Chicago for the last 5 years to be near family when we visit. They provide a great service as as well as a wonderful alternative to downtown hotels. The proposed tax increase (bracket) needs to be revisited!

I do not support the tax increase on b&bs in your county. This action makes it likely that these more affordable, lovely alternatives to chain motel/hotels will be forced out of business. This is a disservice to dozens of small business owners and the visitors to your region.

I strongly urge the Cook County council to recind the reclassification of BnBs. I can't believe a municipal politician would take such devestating actions against a few targeted small businesses that bring in revenues from outside the local economy. Our family stayed at a Chicago BnB recently in order to economize and to support entrepreneurs. Staying at a hotel would be too expensive for family travel. If we have to return to Chicago without a proper BnB to stay in, then we would shorten our stay and/or use "grey market" alternatives like Air BNB. In both cases the municipality loses revenues and so do local restaurants and entertainment services. Everyone loses.
