Airbnb.com is operating ILLEGALLY across our country and it is up to our elected offficials to enforce our laws!!! The entire hospitality industry and the character of our residential neighborhoods are at stake.

I recently stayed at Two Urns. It was a wonderful experience in every way. I never gave a thought to not feeling safe and secure there. I would choose a B&B over the unknowns of an airbnb any time.

Forcing small businesses like our B&B to pay outrageous taxes based on irregular and unlawful conditions which have mis-applied hurts our industry. How do you expect businesses working from home to pay taxes at a rate equivalent to large hotels; and all the while other illegal lodging services are free to avoid paying taxes while licensed B&B's are targeted and discriminated against. None of it makes sense.

There is so much misunderstandings about what a legitimate, licensed and tax paying bed and breakfast is vs a hotel or unlicensed short term rentals. Please Mr. Berrios become informed and understand that you maybe hurting law abiding citizens of your town and beyond hurting, making it impossible to continue their businesses. Is that really what you want to do?

Mr. Berrios, You must stop and consider the facts. Hurting these small businesses with this unfair tax burden is NOT the right thing to do. They are residential/ commercial properties and should NOT be paying the same as hotels. This is outrageous and the press needs to get involved.

Les B and B sont, par la qualité de leur accueil et de leur prestations, des motivations pour visiter les USA. Un séjour agréable dans l'un d'entre eux permet de revenir dans le pays et incite à dépenser de l'argent. Augmenter les prix de location pour le locataire en augmentant les taxes pour les propriétaires éloigne les touristes européens un peu plus.

Seriously.... this is a sad commentary on the hospitality of Chicago. Very few stay in the B&Bs yet they put out more warmth than any major hotel.

This huge tax increase on small business legal B and Bs is egregious…..if my tax went up 150% in one year I would lose my faith in government, esp the way this particular increase was doled out.

B&B's are a personal owned by people who live in the city. These small business owners pull people to the city to visit and spend their money. If you raise this tax they may disappear!

For a real Chicago experience, we need more B&Bs. Taxing the establishments would not help increase those numbers. People who stay would undoubtedly spend more money on food, and travel to the city. It may not be trackable but , it would increase the tax base, in a more palatable (hidden almost) way.

I recently stayed at one of the Bed and Breakfast potentially subject to this onerous increase in tax rate. Please do not discourage me to spend my out of town dollars in the city of Chicago.

B&Bs are completely different than hotels, and should not be taxed as if they are the same. They are humble, home based businesses, with no corporate backing and smaller profit margins...most are in it for the love of gracious hosting rather than for the money!!

I was lucky to find a nice, safe B&B (House of Two Urns) for my recent stay in Chicago. It was much more affordable than a decent hotel room would have been. Also, having a hot meal included to start my day helped defray my cost even more. Please, reconsider this excessive tax increase for B&Bs, and keep Chicago affordable for visitors on a budget.
