No consultation probably as the council knew most residents would object to the proposal

I'm not sure I believe my eyes, how of all places does a grade II listed park, a place of tranquility and historic and natural interest, become a venue for a racing car event? In a city as large as London there is no justification for laying tarmac around Battersea Park when there are many more appropriate venues. What next, skate-boarding in St Pauls? Come on Wandsworth Council, have you taken leave of your senses?

Its entirely inappropriate to have this in batteries park ...it's a park not a race track....why not have the racetrack somewhere outside London ....

This park was given to the PEOPLE by the Queen many years ago-it is not the councils right to exclude local people from the park, and cause chaos whilst doing so

Outrageous! Battersea Park should not be used for car racing

I have tried to get WBC to approve a small free Saturday parkrun in the park to no avail. Cllr Cook insists running can't be free, so it comes as no surprise that non-residents with very deep pockets get to stage Formula E despite its irrelevance to Battersea

Really disturbed by what's happening. Went for a run in the park earlier and noticed the paths had changed. Really poor form by the greedy council.

Parks should be motor free or only for electric engines. This is an appalling decision. Battersea is one of the greenest, quietest and stress free park. Thank you very Wandsworth council for taking this away from us and thinking to fill in your own pockets over the wellbeing of the residents contributing to keep you in your seats by paying our taxes. Shame on you!

I am strongly opposed to Formula E coming to Battersea Park. It is completely out of place in this beautiful park. I also deplore the extension to the car park. London's precious green spaces should be preserved and not tarmacced.

This park is for recreational use by local residents and is being torn up to provide a race track. Wandsworth council should never have agreed to such an event and should cancel this contract and stop any similar event happening in the future.

Battersea Park is a unique green space that should be preserved for future generations in its present state and not mutilated for populist purposes which are likely to destroy its current peaceful use.

The ongoing massive cuts to the revenue support grant from Government to all councils is motivating them to pursue horrible commercialisation and money making from public assets. Witness also for example the enormous rent increase to the Youth Hostel at Holland Park from RBK&C which has forced it to close. People: Look beyond the mainstream news media and economics. This deregulated "NeoLiberal" economic system is a hopeless economic & monetary system based on debt, speculation and absurd and ever growing consumption and inequality leaving less & less money for our public services. One big cause of this is that the Private Banks (as a result of gradual deregulation over 40 years) now create almost all of the money they "lend" and that "lending" creates deposits. 97% of all money circulating is now electronic- just numbers in banks' computers, not notes & coins created by the government. This will sound unbelievable to most so please check out www.positivemoney.org campaigning group for ample proof and why we need to restore the privilige of creating money to nationally owned central banks exclusively and so restore a sane monetary system that looks after all of us not just an elite few. Another useful resource on why this economic system is hopeless and will only lead to more absurd government & council initiatives like this one at Battersea Park- check out "The Keiser Report" on RT (Freeview TV).
