Wandsworth Council please rethink this disastrous decision and protect this much loved and much used public space. Shouldn't the needs and views of the local community be the first concern of the council that the same community has democratically elected to represent them?People before profit please.

Our Grade 11 listed Battersea Park is being rented out by Wandsworth council, despite opposition by many locals, to become the playground if the wealthy consortium headed up by Señor Alejandro Agag under the guise of furthering electric cars in London. The park is not fit for purpose and is having to be adapted to accommodate the circuit at the expense of tearing up shrubberies, laying tar macadam, constructing concrete barriers, stands, and all the paraphernalia required to hold this event. Held during the height of the summer when the park is most enjoyed by the local residents who then have to put up with the development of the event for weeks on end. The entrance fee may well be out of reach for many people who live in the area. I do not think W B C have done a proper job in advertising this event and the disruption it entails. We need a proper chance to review the impact of the event to see wether the break clause should be implement after year one. I can only presume the Council will be making many, many millions from this venture because it surely must be petty cash to the organisers.

No access at all is not well thought out at all, indeed it is completely ridiculous when one considers the numbers that use the park.

Call the RSPB and the RSPCA and complain it's cruel to the wildlife and the animals in the zoo!

as this article states there must be plenty of places more appropriate for this 'sport' than Battersea Park, or any park for that matter. Surely it can't be beyond the wit of the local council to hold a race and not destroy a bit of the park at the same time. hmmm clearly not.

Despite all the effort to produce a beautiful park following the Heritage Lottery Fund grant, Wandsworth Borough Council are determined to take the money despite the finding of their own risk assessment and now damage the park and its ambience for the next five years. Rally your family and friends to comment and sign the petition.

This is a totally inappropriate use of our lovely local park. Unbelievable that such damage and disruption can even be contemplated. I totally support pressure on Wandsworth Council to exercise the break clause so this does not continue in future years.

I am appalled by the insanity of this proposal. Everything about this proposal is wrong on every count and I could cry, looking at these photos. The arrogance of Edward Lister and the Council is breathtaking.
