Battersea Park was given Heritage lottery money to return it to its Edwardian origins, as far as possible, not to turn it into a 21st century racing track. This usage sets a precedent for other commercial concerns to alter the park for their own money-making interests, not those of park users.

The park has in the space of three days been turned into a prison. The inconvenience to regular users is enormous. Go and take a walk around today and see what is happening.

What would the wise Buddha in our park have to say... won't be so peaceful a pagoda during this race...

I strongly oppose the E Formula car Event - Battersea Park is not a suitable location.

While I understand that Wandsworth Council have to generate income Battersea Park is not the right location for a Formula E Car event. The amount of disruption during the first 2 days of the set up is already unaceptable for those of us who live opposite the park and all who visit it every day as I myself do, and there are 2 weeks of this 'set up' followed by the 2 days of the event itself and a further 2 days to dismantle everything. Total closure to all except 30,000 ticket holders attending the event and for the following 2 days. In addition there was also the month of March when one of the car parks, which will become part of the track during the race, was resized and resurfaced as was the boules area and access to the British Genius Site was improved to facilitate it's use as a pit stop area. Long after Formula E Racing have packed up and left, the long job of repairing the beautiful park that we all love and cherish will go on, and on, and on. We cannot allow this to be repeated for 5 years. Battersea Park is NOT the right location. It should be held at a purpose built racing car track such as Silverstone or Brands Hatch.

i cycle through the park every day. It is not in fact closed "only for two days" - I could not gain access today and this is 10 days before the race. It is a public space funded by our council tax. The council has no right to exclude the public from enjoyment of the park for which is in essence TWO WEEKS!

Absolutely out of order! There is so much ground in dockland and that area why could it not have been there. It is a disgrace and I can't believe they've condoned it. What is Boris's reaction????

inappropriate use of lottery funding to restore this park to 'former glory' 10 years ago? Is the funding to be refunded to the Lottery? Shame on Wandsworth council.

I run in the park on a daily basis. Yesterday they closed the major pedestrianised roads and were directing all cyclists, runners and pedestrians through small, narrow gated diversion paths all around the park. This is a huge danger to everybody; the cyclists go very fast and at commuting hours there are so many of them. There are huge construction trucks everywhere. Very disappointed with the decision that has been made.

Bonkers! Parks and motor racing do not mix. LB Wandsworth Council has done a great disservice to all friends of this lovely park, many of whom live outside the Borough and have no vote. Exercise the brake (!) clause now. Peter

Disgraceful use of a naturally beautiful, peaceful Patk. How horrific to spoil the peace of this Park in such a terrible way.
