First opened in 1858 with the concept of providing a rural idyll for Londoners and visitors seeking to get away from busy city life. The Old English Garden, The Sub Tropical Garden and Russell Page Garden amongst others were all carefully planned and created to achieve this. So Wandsworth Council - exactly how does Formula E fit into this? The bid should have gone to the ExCel Exhibition Centre as well you know.

It is such a shame that our lovely parks are used for commercial gain, and a race track is the worst thing I have ever heard of. Does the council have no care for their ratepayers. The noise will be miserable and all tranquility lost. Please break after a year this and restore the park tothe people

to build a race track, all be it an E one is daft. It is not good for the wild life nor the neighbourhood as a huge crowd will arrive here.

The disruption to the Park and environs and the virtual closure to those that use it for a period time is FAR too high a price to pay for a days racing. The lack of consultation with the community is breathtaking arrogance. It should definitely be stopped.

Typical of this council. Arrogant, pig headed and failling to represent the people of this borough. They should hang their heads in shame. But they will probably be to busy jolly it up with their cronies in a champagne marquee.

I just wonder how Wandsworth council gave this shameful authorisation to destroy this beautiful park? 4 weeks of major disturbance for 4 hours of race ? Maybe because the owner of this event is Mr Agag, son in law of the spanish ex-prime minister Mr Aznar?

Consultation ? Wandsworth Borough Council has a history of sham consultations, followed by presentation of a fait accompli which was their original intention . . . .

The park looked so beautiful prior to this destruction. How has this been allowed to happen without any consultation with residents?

I cannot believe that landscaping has been removed for a 'permanent' race track. Disgraceful!

This is an environmentally and socially important park, find a more suitable location for this and all will enjoy it

This event is a travesty for those who use the park, the residents and the flora and fauna who have made their home in BP

Devastating waste of this beautiful public space, weeks of disruption and permanent damage. Should never me allowed to happen again.
