Just arrived home after a long day at work and all I want to do is go out into the park on this gorgeous hot evening and it is shut!!! The contractors are making lots of noise with scaffold poles and this is just utterly scandalous.

There were plenty of both joggers and dog walkers on Sunday using the perimeter path along the river.

Sort of missing the point there. it's an electric (very quiet) series which solely races in city centre. Do your research before making yourself look like a bit of a cock.

And did you sign the petition against the works at the Grade 2 listed Battersea Powertation?

I live in Surrey Lane and could not park my car anywhere near by. It was the hottest weekend we have had and none of us residence could use the park. I have a dog and we could not use the park for walking. I was very shocked to see what has happened to the park. I do not understand why this race has to be in Central London at all, but should not be in a park, where bird life must have been disturbed, like every other resident!

This is the worst abuse of a public oasis I have ever witnessed! Shame on Battersea Council for allowing this to happen. The damage to the park is already beyond imagination. Wildlife disturbed, zoo animals had to be re-homed, and all visitors had to make way for a completely unsuitable event that should be held anywhere else in the city - but surely not a 'park'. Crazy.

This is a sorry state of affairs and sounds like it's been badly thought out!

Millions enjoy this park every month. Having it closed for 2 weeks has disrupted the sanity of us all. Specially local tax payers.

Roads are always being blocked for protest marches and bicycle races- do the same foe electric car racing. It is ludicrous to close down the park during the summer when children should be running around outside enjoying what little of un polluted air you can find in London. Stop the cars on the roads and show how electric cars in London would be better for everyone.

Battersea Park is a totally inappropriate venue for motor car racing. There are proper race tracks which can be used such as Brands Hatch, Silverstone etc. which can cater for the crowds. All the commercial activity supporting this race brings more commercial vehicles into the park along with stands etc which will lead to more soil compaction which will do long term harm to the trees in the park. I think it is disgraceful that the park should be closed to its residents during the time when the weather is warmer and children need the space to run free.

I walk my dog twice daily in the park. The closure of the park means that we have nowhere to go, unless I get in my car. This event has had an enormous impact on our lives. This is a public park, an area of green, peaceful space. Many people need to escape here for peace. Dogs need to run around. Joggers need to run. This event is totally inappropriate and not welcome on our doorsteps. There must be hundreds of alternatives. Formula e is not welcome here.

IMPORTANT Everyone who signed this petition needs to email the council citing their objections. We need to act to get this break clause implemented. Paul McCue. [email protected] Jonathan Cook. jonathancook@wandsworth

This is an insane initiative: steal a beautiful park during the summer days from its residents to organise a useless, unknown car racing. For weeks, trucks have been (and will be for week) racing around the park: these are not electric. Please organise these events were they should be: far away from town on a proper circuit.

Such a shame that local people and the many schoolchildren who use the park in term-time for matches, sports, picnics and simply running around haven't been able to enjoy it for three weeks of the very short British summer! I'm not sure what sort of green message this is sending out. Next time, why not try bicycle racing, like Crystal Palace park - much more eco-friendly and far less invasive. Please let's not have Formula E for five more years...

So much disruption, noise, very bad access across to the park from the entrance, not what the locals want at all and tonight, not even able to take my dog for a quick walk by the river -

Parks should be for people to enjoy green space and fresh air , not for dubious and exclusive corporate events - i use the park all of the time and saw no consultation notices - to do this in high summer is doubly ridiculous
