Totally unnecessary. This is just exploiting local people in an effort to. extort money from them. It will damage local businesses. It's an outrageous money making scam.

I would hope that the council take notice of this petition and actually act on the wishes of the Community. Baillieston is one of the few local high streets left in the East end and should be supported to thrive instead of restricted

Dear LES
I am writing to object to the proposed Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) for Baillieston Main Street.
Whilst there are major concerns about congestion in the Baillieston area, I am concerned the proposed plans, as they stand, will make things worse for the following reasons:
· The proposal to have double yellow lines the full length of Church Street/Bredisholm Road will have a detrimental effect on my constituents who live in the area. It will lead to cars parking on the other side streets, resulting in increased traffic problems.
· The plans to have parking meters will hurt local businesses in the area as shoppers will go to major supermarkets who provide free parking.
· Local business owners and their staff when faced with parking charges will chose to park in side streets rather than pay charges, causing further congestion in residential streets.
· Enforcement – I am concerned how effective this will be, as double yellow lines in the area have been introduced in the ward and enforcement is not being followed.
· Lack of consultation – No consultation has been done in this area with residents. LES advised they would carry out a full consultation in December, but this did not materialise.
· Concerns have been raised by local Community Councils, which have apparently been ignored. I have attached a copy a survey by Baillieston Community Council which was carried out in April/May 2014, which shows that residents favour unlimited parking at least on one side of the road.

I own a business on this main Street and fear greatly the consequences of this. I agree that the main street is a hazard at present with parking but surely the answer would be to provide a public car park.

I think this is a great idea as a disabled person with a blue badge parking is very difficult on this road I can't get to the hairdressers or the butchers myself . I have also noticed that there is disabled bays on the street other people park in these who are not disabled. The same happens at tesco in the car park where there is two disabled bays and the people from the offices upstairs from Tesco park in these bays they do not have blue badges . Most of the time I can't get parked either in Iceland ( disabled bays ) seems nobody bothers about parking at Iceland they park on double yellow lines and on the corners and up on the pavements if you do get in to park you are lucky to get back out. Also most of them parking in Iceland are not using the shop they are going to the health centre and there is a car park at the health centre. There should be more traffic wardens walking about the street .
