Another in a long line of ill conceived ideas by GCC likely causing more detriment to the local community than benefit and only really benefitting GCC's own coffers. How about enforcing the existing parking restrictions like preventing double parking / parking on double yellow lines / cars sitting with hazard lights on the main road itself.

The powers that be need to look at the bigger picture, and not just see the pound signs parking meters would make them. The detrimental effect parking meters would have for the businesses that trade would far outweigh any good.

This is not a solution to the parking difficulties in and around Baillieston Main Street. I will not pay for on-street parking in my local community which ultimately will stop me from spending my earnings in the local community. Mu;tiply my circumstances by many hundreds and you can appreciate the concerns from local businesses.

This is a petition to Glasgow City Council to request that there be a 30 minute period of free parking on Baillieston Main Street, then a small charge of no more than 50p for a further 30 minutes. In addition we would request there is a "no return within 2 hour policy".

Having worked in this street for many years it is obvious to local residents as well as shoppers from further afield that free parking is vital to the many small businesses who operate here.
