Please let's keep those trying to raise their own chickens for their own food at a lower permit price. This is keeping rochester, NY a green city by allowing residents to have chickens at a reasonable price for registering their animals.

If there is a clear reason why chicken permits cost the City that much more, the City needs to be forthcoming in stating it. Machine politics has too much power in Rochester, and this is just a small example of its abuses.

I am a current permit holder and have been for three years in the city of Rochester. The neighbors here in my Swillburg district love my birds. Strangers walk by, smile, take pictures, and ask questions about my 5 feather babies. As always I’m happy to educate them.
The city should take into consideration how not just municipalities, but the residence of Rochester reflect what the city is about. Across the country people are turning to a greener lifestyle. So why can’t Rochester embrace this as well?
