So AVDC are to knock down a building with character and replace it with a temporary car park. Now how many times have I heard this before?

John Betjeman comes to mind here - just replace Slough with Aylesbury and make sure the town planners are in situ. Then maybe the last remnants of what was once a pretty market town will be left alone before the new Mini Me Milton Keynes is complete.

Find a use for it until somebody with money does. Don't just make it bankable by knocking it down.
