All arts programs are necessary for a well rounded student. Cancelling a program that has served the community for 30 years is unnecessary.

As an alumni of this illustrious institution as well as the feeder high school, Benjamin E. Mays High School, these two have played a pivotal and foundational role in my life. I was a member of the band at Young Middle as well as Mays High School. This is the foundation of who I am as a woman, and I’m signing this petition in good faith that this heinous crime against mankind be reversed.

This is where I got my start in band with Mr. Williams. He taught me how to play the clarinet and saxophone.

Dumb idea by person or persons not familiar with music education, or could not master a instrument. Cultural awareness, discipline, and leadership are learned in music education. I am a product of Atlanta Schools, a musician, and proud of the foundation provided. My daughters also were band students at Jean Childs Young Middle School and May's High School.
