As a Wigan resident I am signing the petition because Ashfield park should remain as one thing. A green park for recreational use by the children, families and people of Standish/surrounding areas. Speaking as parent and as a person who spent many years in Standish, this park is highly valued for the right purpose. Keep Ashfield Park as what it should be. A green space, a park.

Regular at this park with my two young children, would be gutted to see it built on. Very sad indeed to see an elected council go against the local people's wish to keep hold of a park so enjoyed by the community.

I have used Ashfield Park for 60+years. I used to ride my horse day in day out on Ashfield when I was a teenager, I have picnicked and met friends there throughout my life. I walked my dogs for many, many years. I still walk and enjoy the peace it gives. My grandchildren adore a walk in Ashfield park, running, playing ball, riding their bikes, using the play equipment, collecting conkers, seeing the first snowdrops appear, gasping at the carpets of bluebells. It is a beautiful calm space which should never be vandalised by houses being built on it. Please save Ashfield Park.

I have used Ashfield Park for 60+years. I used to ride my horse day in day out on Ashfield when I was a teenager, I have picnicked and met friends there throughout my life. I walked my dogs for many, many years. I still walk and enjoy the peace it gives. My grandchildren adore a walk in Ashfield park, running, playing ball, riding their bikes, using the play equipment, collecting conkers, seeing the first snowdrops appear, gasping at the carpets of bluebells. It is a beautiful calm space which should never be vandalised by houses being built on it. Please save Ashfield Park.

Born and breed in this area. This outdoor space gave me the creative energy which has sustained me throughout my life, I know every tree and every blade of grass and it gave me the best start growing up playing in that environment. It would be appalling to lose any part of it and would change the whole community forever.
