I grew up close to the park and my Mum still lives there. We played there every day and used the tennis courts. I also used to go there with school for sports days.

I used to travel on the bus from Wigan Girls school in the 1940's to use the playing fields for sports. They've been in public use for many many years.

Ashfield Park is a great meeting place and over the years has been there for my sons as an alternative to sitting indoors on an x-box!

I am 89 yrs old and have lived in Standish for over 40 years, I regularly walk around the area. I go to the playground with my great grandchildren. There are few enough green public areas left.

Ashfield is a valuable asset for the local community and must be saved for the village. It should be awarded village green status. Our grand children regularly use the playground and walks.
