I have used Ashfield park together with my family since 1968 and greatly value it as being the last remaining open green space left in Standish and would be unthinkable to loose it to yet more unaffordable housing developments.

I have lived in Standish for over 17 years. My first family of children used Ashfield Park, and my second family are using it. We all use it, and we join all the others using it.

You only have to read the below articles to recognise the importance of retaining the Park for the well-being of the community. The long term benefits far outweigh any short term gain.

having used Ashfield park for over the last 40 years, not only for my children, but now my grandchildren i find it totally unacceptable to build houses on this much needed park, with the help of csr fairhurst we will fight tooth & nail to give it village green status, for all to enjoy.

throughout the year and needs to

I have lived in Standish which once was a small village for the last 37 years and the present infrastructure is failing with the amount of new build housing schemes being approved
Wigan Council should focus all their efforts and appreciated dwindling budgets on improving the present infrastructure

I have lived in Standish all my life, and it is now no longer a village due to the excessive amount of new properties being built. There will be no open spaces/fields left for people to enjoy soon. It's very sad.

I have lived in Standish for 46 years and played at Ashfield Park for many years when I was growing up. I now take my grandchildren to the park to play, as does many other people in Standish. We are fed up of more and more houses being built in Standish and to try and take Ashfield playing fields after all these years is very sad to say the least

The infrastructure around Standish has had little investment considering the amount of revenue the council have received from the house building, the road system is for want of a better word a joke but we all know this.
Ashfield looks like the only piece of green "public" land hopefully going to be left that children can play on and enjoy we should all contribute and do our bit.

Was this the Olympic Legacy? We should be creating places for children to play outside, not destroying them. All the fields that used to be off Lurdin Lane have already been built on. The council should be preserving this small recreational area for the people of Standish.
