With all the houses already being built in Standish, Ashfield Park needs saving move than ever. Having played on the park as a child myself over 30 years ago, I now frequently visit the park with my 2 year old and had numerous picnics there with her little friends. Green open space is so important for everyone especially children. How can we encourage children to be more active by playing outdoors away from computers when we are building on all our playgrounds and green space. We do not need any more supermarkets or houses in Standish, but we do need our park!

I have lived in Standish for many years. My children, who are now grown up, used the park on a regular basis. Our grandson now uses the park on a regular basis and has great fun there. It is a wonderful sight to see lots of other children and families using and enjoying the park. The council have gone to great lengths to provide hundreds of new houses but has made no effort to provide amenities. The park is integral to the Standish community. Please leave it ALONE Wigan Council!!!
