We have only just purchased a property and moved to standish 2 minutes walk from the park and having just had a little boy we would be very upset not to have the park near us as I was already imagining what it will be like when he is older and we go there to play. Please save the park!!!

A very valuable, accessible play/recreation area which has been used by children for many years and will be for many more, despite the owners' obvious attempts to render the football fields useless by failing to maintain them properly (potholes never filled in, never cut regularly etc). Standish has NO other recreation facilities despite paying the highest rates in the borough and we want to KEEP this park. The council can go and build houses in Atherton, Tyldesley, Hindley etc where all the money and investment goes.

Think we should fight to preserve Ashfield, not only for the restricted leisure facilities in Standish, but that it presents and nourishes a community environment and desperate need for the village.
