I'm from the class of 88 and I think this is a disgrace to this to our school. To wipe out our history and deny future students to experience what we have is an outrage. Arts Charter School is not the answer, rather keeping our school open to continue the work it has been doing for decades is the answer.

This is ridiculous. Never did I think I would be signing a petition to SAVE MY SCHOOL. My younger sister has been accepted and is attending Arts High School in the fall. I'm devastated that she may not get to have the same opportunities that my friends and I have had. Arts High School is such a wonderful haven full of love from teachers and guidance counselors who actually TEACH you something. Who would've thought that a few students from the hood would have gone on to perform at some of the nations best venues like Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and the Kimmel Center? Arts High School paved the way for those opportunities. Don't take that away from the future generations!!!!

I can't believe our school system has become a charter school factory. The mission of AHS was to develop the talent of the city's youth while providing a solid education in the core subject areas. These people ( Anderson, Christie) could care less about growing our young people into intelligent, talented young adults. As an educator and school leader, I find this "One Newark " charter, (whatever they want to call it) initiative a poor example of leadership. Alumni, we must speak up not just for AHS, but for all of our schools.

Arts High serves as a safe haven for many artistically talented youth in Newark. I don't know where I'd be if my high school education would've taken place in any other institution. Save Arts High... #classof2007

I transfered from Barringer 9th Grade Success Academy to AHS in 10th grade before I moved to Massachusetts the next year. That was the same year Tisha Campbell had came to visit and did an interview in the auditorium. That was a really great year for me and I definitely seen and understood how much history Arts High has.

We need a school to help the youth develop as scholars as well as artists. Arts High School needs to remain to mold the young people, and enable them to put their energy on something productive while still pursuing their dreams.

I've had so many wonderful memories from my time in Arts High and thoroughly enjoyed the creative mindset that shaped all of our lives once we moved into our futures. This school needs to continue to help flourish the youth of the city of Newark.

Cami Anderson should be thinking about funding the Arts High School more. One, central air should be installed to improve students' health and performance in academic and extra curriculum activities. Two, they should finish or I should write start and complete remodeling the school. Those poles, metals, and woods around the school, whatever they are called, has being there since 2012. Three, there are classrooms that needs to be fix. Most importantly, the school auditorium also needs to be fix and remodel entirely. This shows that Arts High School students are nearly purposely limited from their high schooI experience. At least, despite all of this staff, students, teachers, and the rest of the Arts High family find ways to overcome these obstacles like the many more there are in the school. She should consider that as well. Ms. Anderson should support the school by fixing these problems which could have been over with a long time. She is not doing any better because she is not helping the school enough or at all. I'm sure there is more that Cami Anderson can do for Arts High School. If Anderson does this, many of us will begin to like her more. Everyone has heard enough of her on every popular news programs/channels of how unfairly she is handling many issues around Newark Public Schools District, but that is another subject. In short words, Anderson instintive action should be to help the schools for the better of students as opposed to shutting down schools, or not giving schools what they need. I'm sure she is able to fix these problems in Arts High School immediately.
