Apple’s One to One programs, personal training and open training, are being phased out and replaced by one hour workshops.

The rationale given for the change was that the use of the One to One programs has declined and that more people could be served by the workshops. Both parts of that rationale are debateable. The usage of the programs may well have been down due to deliberate reduction of availability, not lack of interest. Quite a few subscribers have either given up trying and let their subscriptions lapse or asked for a refund. The second part of this rationale is factually incorrect. The knowledge that can be imparted in a one hour workshop is not even remotely equivalent to an individual session and the open training segments, i.e., less learning provided.

Apple used to pride itself on its loyalty to its purchasers, to its commitment to teaching and for being “The Apple Community”, that all seems to have changed. This new arrangement seems to be driven by financial considerations instead. It may, indeed, be more economical for Apple in the short term but in the long run it will surely affect the company’s public image, negatively, especially since the One to One program was a significant consideration for many apple computer buyers.

I’m a long time user of the programs and of Apple products as well as a shareholder. I have always been extremely satisfied with the One to One programs; it was also a major consideration in my buying Apple computers.

I am DEEPLY dissatisfied with the policy of phasing out the One to One program.

Please sign this petition to help bring back the One on One Apple programs.

Dear Apple, I took several One-on-One classes which were marvellous learning experiences. The instructors were patient, knowledgeable and could focus in on my particular questions and help with my needs. I also took several workshops and so can attest to the very great difference. Although the workshops are fine and useful as introductions, they do not teach to individuals' needs and therefore are considerably less valuable. Because in workshops the learning levels differ, the instructor must take into consideration all levels and therefore the learning is not as satisfying. I am happy to pay the annual cost and would even be willing to pay a bit more if you would keep the program. Sincerely.

I was 'sold' on apple computers and iPad just because of the One to One and open session programs. Apple promised to deliver something in return to buying their computers, and to my opinion, they unilaterally broke a 'contract' without consulting their customers (who depends on these programs), starting with reducing the availability of the sessions. This is a good ploy, but does not wash very well. To reduce (ELIMINATE) sessions availability and saying not enough demands??? Apple used to have the best reputation in the world for looking after their customers, now, I am afraid to run a vote on their customer service standing. Please, change your decision, MANY people depend on these programs. Gadi Hoz, Mississauga, Canada

After suffering through 2 car accidents the One to One program has been a great help to me in learning how to use the computer, I bought Apple computer and products because of the help I can receive. Please reconsider and keep the program in addition to the free classes available, I'd rather pay and have some personal time where I can more retain what has been taught. I love that when I'm at home and have a question I write it down so that In my one to one I can ask and write down the answer.

There is no rational to d/c the program. I have purchased many Apple products and have learned to use and enjoy them as a result of the program. There is no substitute. The store I use showed no signs of decline. There is no excuse If Apple is sincere about serving its tremendous user base. I never would imagine Apple cutting corners for material gain.
