There will definitely have to be some kind of alternate route! Amicks Ferry can't handle the traffic load as it is.

This is a horrible location for a school. There is only one way in and out. School traffic would cause a conundrum of issues. Ex: People trying to get to out, to get to their jobs on time, emergency vehicles trying to get to their destinations. The continuous disregard for voters tax money has gotten completely out of control!!! How about take some time and research?!?

Building a school in this area is irresponsible and shortsighted. It would destroy the nearby land owners' properties and bottleneck traffic in and off Amick's Ferry Road. Without proper planning and road infrastruture plans in place, this is a failure to plan or to take into account the community at large and their right to travel freely to and from their homes. Rarely does the District improve traffic flow when schools are built. Sadly, Kim Murphy was right, decisions were being made without public input for years. This is just one example.

Amicks Ferry Road is already congested. Ambulance and fire can take even longer to get to Timberlake. .

Only one way in and one way out for this area would be a traffic nightmare.

That is a question to ask the the district. They purchased it 2010 and 2011 and now its 2017. Why did they NOT build a new school with our tax dollars from the referendum? Why are they pursuing land on Amicks Ferry when they already have land purchased. One can look on the tax map of Richland County and see it on Mt Vernon church road, the parcel numbers are R01600-08-11, R01600-08-02, and R01600-08-26 on the the Richland county GIS tax map.

So many families work in other areas of the metropolitan Columbia area that such an idea to disturb an already busy commute would be a disaster and not safe for children. NO

Traffic on Amicks Ferry is a nightmare both in the morning and afternoon work hours. If you add an elementary school, that will make travel difficult ALL day. I live at the end of Amicks Ferry and have a 10 minute drive to the interstate with no traffic...I try to plan my trips to town during times that will avoid work traffic. Last summer, while the road work occurred, traffic was awful and we were often left sitting for long periods of time waiting to be directed down the one lane side away from the workers. If you build a school, I assume you will widen the road and again, we will have to endure long wait times. Elemtary schools not only have buses, but parents who bring their children to and from school, causing further delays. Please...there has to be another option.

There should never be a school where there is one way in and one way out. What are the plans for the already purchased land on Mt Vernon Church??

I live on this road and find it hard to even get out of my driveway, I hate to think what it would be if a new school was 2 miles away, also isn't it a conflict of interest when 3 of the board members are in the real estate business??? Do you really think most of us of lacking in intelligence?

This is NOT a GOOD idea! Will some one please do something about the county issuing building permits to developers and then give them tax breaks so the tax dollars are not coming on to solve the problems they are creating! Chapin does not have the infrastructure to support all these people!!!

Building a school there. Would be a logistics nightmare. 1) hard corner, 2) Amicks Ferry Road is not wide enough to accommodate the additional traffic 3) wetland , just to name a few.

Amicks Ferry has enough through traffic and does not need additional traffic added. I use this road to get home a lot and would not appreciate having to go through another school zone. Chapin is too small for what the town is trying to make it become.
