Save Alternative Middle Schools

Our alternative school made a massive difference in our child's interest and effort in school. They're very important and should be properly staffed and funded

Support these students and teachers! They are already working with so little, and asking for the bare minimum.

Alternative schools offer a crucial contribution to our education system.

We need to help with all needs.

City View is a great school. The rest of the system should emulate it, not vice versa!

School Boards and the Provicial Government are always talking about how they provide and believe in education for all and equal opportunity for every student to achieve but in reality we see that students who don't learn the same way as the status quo keep getting left behind.

I know so many kids whose lives have benefited from alternative schools in the TDSB. Schools across the system need access to better funding and more resources, it would be tragic to let alternative schools be a casualty of this scarcity. We are grateful for the incredible work of alternative school staff for making their programs work on a shoestring, but it shouldn't have to be so hard.

Children have different learning styles, please help them thrive by offering them alternatives.

These students deserve special Ed services as well. It’s unreasonable to ask teachers to carry an impossible load. UNACCEPTABLE

I was educated in an alternative high school. It was a wonderful learning experience.

Stop and reverse these cuts!!!!! Huge damage is being done!

Our kids and the teachers need more support - equity for alternative schools, we need increase in staff ratios NOT decreases! How can we attract awesome teachers if they arent given the tools

Alternative schools are immensely important for inclusivity. They provide a safe and welcoming place for all kids. Cuts to teacher allotment at City View, means less resource support for kids with IEPs. As a parent of an LGBTQ kid with an LD, these cuts deeply impact our kid's ability to attend a school where she will feel 100% accepted and safe.

Alternative schools are not about smaller classes; they are about cross-curricular learning. This requires energetic and creative teachers who are willing to adjust their teaching styles to give students enriched programs whether focused on social justice, outdoor education, or artistic endeavours. I have seen the hard work that alt teachers put in and the time they spend on administration, and then seen those same teachers try to continue the program with half the staff. It's impossible. The programs are being badly undermined. Allow alternatives to flourish by staffing them sufficiently and stop punishing alt teachers by working them into the ground. At least three teachers are needed to deal with the admin and involvement that the alt teachers take on to make these much needed schools run.

To NOT value the impact of smaller classes and personal interaction between teachers and students in alternative schools, is at the very least, extremely shortsighted!!

Please support our children's education. Especially since this is such a precarious time for so many of them, we rely on staff to help support our kids academically and emotionally.

As a parent of a grade 6 student looking for alternative grade 7 options, I’m shocked at how understaffed the alternative middle schools are. We need an array of choices in education, and it’s important to staff and find them to succeed.

How can any government make cuts to education? Our children are our country’s future.
