I've eaten at alpha for many years and have enjoyed the sidewalk dining aspect. 34th Street is a very congested street BUT only from 5th Av to 8th Ave. Once you get past Manhattan Center heading west there are no crowds. I have never experienced anything negative in the years it's been there (to my knowledge). It's a wonderful place to have a drink and/or eat in the spring and summer to enjoy the city.

This neighborhood is moving towards real change with the Hudson Yards project. REALLY! You need to support local business.
Sidewalk is wide enough for pedestrians to walk by. There's no reasonable excuse to shut this sidewalk cafe down.
