I have a 6th grader and an 8th grader at Akimel. I also have a soon to be kindergartner that will be starting the dual language program at Lagos. We live in Lakewood and moved to this neighborhood a few years ago specifically to be close to Lagos, Akimel and DV to bring our children to thrive at amazing schools right here in our neighborhood. My oldest has done so well at Akimel in his 3 years. Akimel is an amazing school with amazing teachers. Closing an important middle school not only hurts working parents but it makes it more difficult for young students to participate in sports. Less middle schools, less opportunity for kids to make a team, build athletic skills and try new things.

We have many kids in this school, and it’s an amazing school. Great sports teams, and band. And we love the school! And the dual language program.

This school saved me from so much drama and I would hate to lose it
