The city of Jacksonville Beach is planning a well-needed makeover for Gonzales Park. However at this time all designs call for the removal of both diamonds AND the basketball courts. The diamonds are used frequently. We believe leaving the one in the northwest corner will still allow for the accommodation of additional activities in the current green space and space created with the other diamond. There is already a shortage of public diamonds and spaces for JBBA and Northeast Florida Girls’ Softball to practice. Let’s keep one at Gonzales.
