My experience with Kean Dance Theater was the most rewarding time of my college years. (1981 - 1983) Begun by William Chaison and continued by Luis Martinez provided a creative outlet for myself and many others during its 30 years for students . Many of my most treasured friendships I still have to this day, began with KDT. PLEASE KEEP THIS PROGRAM ALIVE!

Being a member of KDT while student at Kean 1979-1983 made my years there memorable and treasured! My fellow KDT members are the only people I still keep in touch with from College! Please go not end this wonderful creative outlet

I was a part of KDT for 3 years, and continued to have kept in touch since I graduating in 2009. I was also a student government officer for 2 of those years making sure we continued to be recognized by the kean community. To this day, my most treasured friendships came from being a part of the group. We were all there because we shared a common passion, with our hearts, and a love for the stage.

I am truly distressed when any arts group is forced to disband but to lose this group who has touched and enhanced and enriched so many lives would be a real travesty.

KDT is something a lot of students look forward to, not to mention it also employs students for the performances. It's not just cutting funding, it's cutting school spirit.

I'm a friend of Luis Martinez and I knew Bill Chaison. The are both great dance teacher and their students should be appreciated by a Kean audience.

I don't understand how this could be happening to such a wonderful program. As a theater graduate with an emphasis on lighting design, I don't how I would have succeeded in NYC for 15 years without the valuable training I received designing for all the Kean dance performances. I know that in the performing art having a diverse training is the only way to suceed. Perhaps you should think about cutting the football team considering it's not part of any curriculum.
Thank you for your consideration,
Pegeen Shean

I danced with KDT when I attended Kean. I hope this program is kept for other new students to benefit from.

PLEASE consider saving this institution . The University has done a wonderful job of renovating the football field , built the worlds ugliest fountain in front of the Administration Bldg , has built a number of new buildings and even has a rich peoples eatery on campus , which has nothing to do with the University . This program has been a wealth of education not just to the dancers but for the theatre department students as well . I know because I was one of those theatre students . PLEASE reconsider .

"Well, I guess you can cut the arts as much as you want. Sooner or later, these kids aren't going to have anything to read or write about."
