The service is growing, the clients are satisfied, students are taking more and more online courses -- to eliminate support for AAL is not a wise strategy!

I have answered a reference question for a person in Italy. This service is known around the world! And if it is cut, people from around the world will not have a good impression of Florida.

Our youngest daughter relied on them all though high school and now a freshman at UF. They're an amazing group!

Ask a Librarian is a necessary service that helps library users get answers to the questions they need in real time, around the clock. I am a librarian myself, and I interned for Ask a Librarian in library school, where I answered literally thousands of questions and helped empower students, kids, and people from all walks of life, late into the night.

"Newest research from @pewinternet show 5% decrease in #library use and 5% increase in library web site use #alamw14" - so should the ever-increasing number virtual patrons be stuck with a choice of Siri or Google?

They're great at answering the kinds of questions I tend to ask that are too complex and subtle for Google.

I have both utilized Ask a Librarian to get answers for personal information needs and also assisted virtual patrons from my library and across the state. I see this as an essential tool to provide service to people who might otherwise go unserved.

This is a very helpful resource, particularly with students working after their library has closed.

I urge you to share this petition link with others at your library. Ask a Librarian provides an amazing service to our community, a small academic library with limited staff that do reference. This service is vital not only to distance students, but also to our evening students, most of whom do their library research online. Also, for our traditional students, this service allows us to extend reference service beyond the hours when librarians are physically able to cover. In this day and age, even our traditional students often prefer to contact the library virtually. Many have tried to use statistics to prove that the service is not needed. As others have said, statistics don't always tell the whole story. Please consider signing this petition so we can continue to provide excellent reference service throughout the state..
